RECENTLY RELISTED:

VERY RARE CIRCUS TICKET - 1916 Barnum & Bailey Circus Ticket

Note: we had many watchers on this item and we surely thought that since we sell them for so much at the real auctions, that the bidding would be fun to start at 1 dollar. We were wrong. So we re-listed it because it was offered and we are now starting it at a very low, low, $999.00 USD starting bid. Don't miss out on this rare collector item. This is WWI at it's end in 1916. The ticket refelects the hard times in the statment about admission. It also looks like currency and it's got the BandB watermark. You cannot afford to miss this rare items from the night of September 4th, 1916. Start the Bidding today! VERY RARE ITEM INDEED!!! Ticket #4170 For the date of issue only - 09/04/1916 - See Photos & Description Below

'The Greatest Show On Earth' Currency like WWI Ticket!

 90 Year Old

BandB

Circus Ticket

Starts At $999.00 Bid... Bid Now!

This is a very rare item indeed. Finding one of these 90 Year Old tickets, in it's great condition, is amazing. The WWI date is also very rare indeed. The fall of 1916 was a heated WWI wartime date. The Ticket - appears to be used and kept by the user or was saved and never issued at all, it's hard to tell because it's in such fine condition (as it was after punched and handed out). See Photos and more below...

The estate was offered a great amount of money for this RARE Circus item years ago but was not selling or even offering it for sale at the time. If you collect CIRCUS Historical Memoribilia, this is one item you may want to win and add to the collection.

The holder is a paper money type wrap for best care. Don't use anything that is not acid free or that does not promote long time preservation.

About the Ticket

Condition of the ticket is just as it was pulled off the roll. It does have a watermark or slight stain on the back, but the front is mint condition or better. The edges are as was and look great. There is 1 slight nick on the perferation end of the ticket (same as the punched end - left as you look at the front). The back shows a crease or fold that can hardly be seen when looking at the front. This is a great item and it's a real wonder it made it for us to see in September 2006.- This is a fine money like 3 ink processed ticket.

Front Side - Items of Interest

The fall of 1916 was still wartime in World War I (WWI) and it was interesting that pre-depression tickets like this one state, "THIS TICKET NOT TO BE BOUGHT OR SOLD! IT WILL ADMIT ONE PERSON, AND WILL NOT ADMIT TWO CHILDREN." in the lower left above the date punch portion of the ticket.

The ticket was issued by the TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT and was for use only on September 4, 1916.

The RED number on the ticket is in a 2nd ink color so it was run a 3rd time on a printing press. The unique number is 4170.

4170 COMPLEMENTARY TICKET

"Good Only on Date and Performance Indicated by Punch Marks in Margin"  *

ADMIT ONE

* See the Punch Marks (Note Shape).

The B and B watermark in the face is most impressive. It's in a light brown tone and then the block and red ink is above (meaning there were 3 runs through the printin press).

Back Side - Items of Interest

The back is in pretty good shape, it looks like a slight watermark caused by the punch which may be oil or something dark (it's not bad at all). The photo of the back lets you see what it looks like pretty good. The back actually looks like money and somekind of paper curency as seen during the period. Barnum and Bailey actually appear each side of a seal looking Year Block with 1916 inside. NoteL The faces and the seal actually look to be pressed into the paper and seem to leave a depression or even raised texture to both eye and feel. Wonderful example of printing to add value and trademarks.

Alexander's Auction has seen tickets like this one from WWI and the depression bring great sums for collections and special collector additions. We feel you can bid with confidence on this fine item and do well. There is a reserve that must be met which is not as much as the Buy Now Price being offered by Alexander's representing the seller (estate or consignor). EstValue: Unlimited to Priceless Due to Date and Condition. Make this fine addition to your collection today. Be a winning bidder. Terms: PayPal Prefered - No Refunds - No Returns - All Sales Final - 0004-91206-1PG Estate Offers this item as is and with prepaid fees and reserves. Alexander's 9-06

If you collect Circus Items, this is one of the very best to have in your collection. Very Valuable and Rare at 90 Years Old

Auctioneers Note - Revised and Added
